「夏」を意味する名詞「summer」の前には、どの時の前置詞が使用されますか？

「夏に（なると）」といいたい場合は、前置詞「in」が使用されます。

尚、「夏の間」といいたい場合は、前置詞「during」が使用されます。

Many people go to the beach during summer.

夏の間、多くの人が海に行く。

因みに、「last summer（去年の夏）」、「this summer（今年の夏）」、「next summer（来年の夏）」は副詞句なので、前置詞は必要ありません。

I went to the beach last summer.

I will go to the beach this summer.

I will go to the beach next summer.
